BRED TO BE CHAMPIONS!

ABOUT US

Louise Paulson and Lorene French are twin sisters who have shared a love of animals since childhood. Lorene was the first of the sisters to decide that the Afghan Hound was the most interesting and beautiful breed of dog she had ever seen. It took awhile to convince her sister that the Afghan was the perfect breed for them to own (Louise was interested in Collies, probably the result of too much time with Lassie on TV).

During a trip to Europe in the late 1970’s, the sisters saw a pair of beautifully groomed and gorgeous Afghans walking through a park in Geneva, Switzerland. There was no question that this was the type of dog they wanted to have. They purchased a house together about 10 years later and Lorene found a pair of Afghans to adopt. That was the beginning of the twins’ new journey. Amira Atifa “Tiff” and Fox Run’s Taliesin “Ali” were beloved pets and companions to Lorene and Louise and cemented their love and devotion for this breed.

Celebrities Apricot Flash “Aja” soon followed. Aja was a rescue who had been wandering loose in a wildlife refuge in the south suburbs of Minneapolis, MN, and on the St. Paul/Mpls airport grounds for about 3 years. No one knows where she came from or how she ended up there but she managed to evade capture for 3 years by jumping over 6 foot high fences to escape from the Animal Control Officers. She was finally caught just before Christmas in 1990 and came to live with Louise, Lorene, Tiff and Ali and was a perfect companion for the next 12 years. She passed away in January 2003.

Each sister has since married and moved on from their mutual home but have continued to share ownership of their dogs and a strong love of the Afghan Hound breed. Since the year 2000, when they purchased their first show dog from Anna Tyler of Inisfree Afghan Hounds (Ch. Inisfree’s Emerald of Fox Run, CD, RN), they have co-owned many show dogs who are Champions of Record with the AKC and several of whom have Obedience titles as well as Lure Coursing and Agility titles.  Louise and Lorene are proud to have successfully co-bred 7 litters with their good friend Anna Tyler and also Cynthia Byington of Sirae’ Afghans.

Lorene and Louise are pleased to share their love of the Afghan Hound breed with you.  Thank you for visiting this site!
